In this case, Mauricio Cornejo, who was a wanted parolee, was arrested and subjected to excessive and unreasonable police force, including baton blows to his back and midsection. He was found dead in a holding cell. In a jury trial, in which Humberto Guizar was one of the attorneys, the family was awarded $3,200,000. The police took the position, as they do in all of these cases, that they used reasonable force.

In this shooting case against the Los Angeles Police Department, filed in the Los Angeles County Superior Court. The LAPD shot and killed a young man whom they believed to be armed.
